BARRIO HISTORICO

Barrio Historico is also known as The Barrio, Barrio Viejo (Old Neighborhood) and Barrio Libre (Free Neighborhood).  The name "Free Neighborhood" came from the days of the wild west in the 1800's when this area was free from law.  It's boundaries are Stone to the East, the railroad to the West, Cushing Street to the North and 18th Street to the South.  There are over 150 old adobes in this neighborhood many of which have been restored and turned into offices.  Walking through this neighborhood is like walking back in time to the days before Arizona became a state.
