EL PRESIDIO HISTORIC DISTRICT


El Presidio is the area of Alameda and 6th streets and Church and Granada Avenues.  In 1775 the Presidio was first layed out by Lt. Colonel Don Hugo Oconor for Spain.  The original presidio was about 750 feet square with three feet wide and twelve feet high adobe walls surrounding the mud buildings.
