| RIO NUEVO TUCSON'S REVITALIZATION Rio Nuevo is an aggressive revitalization program for Tucson's downtown. This project is to breathe new life into the downtown area with new shopping, attractions, restaurants, office space and housing. Some exciting attractions are being planned for Tucson's downtown. Tucson Origins Cultural Park will be a reconstruction of parts of Mission San Agustin, the Presidio and the mission gardens. Information for this Cultural Center is currently being collected through archaeology. The U of A Science Center will be house to a Butterly Vivarium, Mineral Museum, Digital Planetarium, Eearth Exhibit Hall, a Hall for traveling exhibits and much more. Click here to view a map of strategy and focus area for the Downtown Rio Nuevo project. The historic Santa Rita Hotel is also on the board for a face lift. It will still be a hotel, but will be modern without loosing it's historic charm. Some other face lifts are scheduled for the Fox Theatre and the Rialto Theatre.
